The eye is an important part to human and it should be protected at all times. Taking care of the eye cost nothing if properly protected. What can damage your eyes every day is the sun, your eyes are incredibly important. You need to take care of your eyes to avoid problems that could destroy your sight. Fortunately, good eye care is not difficult. Here are four ways to make your eyes healthier.

1.    Wear Sunglasses when outside
The sun can damage your eyes. Bright sunlight and ultraviolet radiation can cause damage to the blood vessels in your eyes slowly start to reduce your vision and cause eye problems. Ensure wearing sunglasses whenever you are outside, wearing sunglasses will help to protect the eyes, make them healthier and stop several potential problems.

2.     Eat the right food
By eating balanced diet will improve the health of your eyes. Ensure you add leafy green such as spinach and collard greens. Also increase your intake of vitamin C daily, moderate amount of oily fish like tuna, salmon to get omega-3 fatty acids in your system, nuts, beans and legumes in your diet.

      3.     Get Regular Eye Checks
Get your eye check every one to two years to detect problems early as this can prevent any conditions and diseases from developing.  An Optometrist can also know if you need eyeglasses to correct any eye problem.

4.     Rest Your Eye Regularly
Rest your eyes regularly, if you are the kind of person that uses computer on daily basis, mobile devices, or even television. Straining your eyes can damage over time if you are always focusing hard on small items. Try to have a break every hour of two and move completely away from the devices as having a break can relieve eyestrain and prevent long-term eye damage. Also keep rooms brightly lit to stop eyestrain and have healthy eyes.

Do not take your eyes for granted. If you notice any changes in your eyes, see the optician immediately as small changes you make right can keep your eye healthy and pay off over time. Healthy eyes will allow you to see well for a long time.

  1. Very informative and well written article! We certainly tend to take our eyes and eyesight for granted. In my job, I spend a lot of time in front of the computer and a couple of times developed a broken blood vessel in my eye when I neglected to take a break from staring at my screen. Thanks for the tips!
