What is a cuticle? How should you take care of
it?
A cuticle
is a thin layer of dead and dry skin at the bottom of your nail. You may be
wondering on how to care for cuticles by yourself. There are lots of things you
can do at home to care for your cuticles. Do
not cut your cuticles, instead push them back using the techniques below for a
neat manicure. However, if you should cut any skin around your nail, it should be
a painful hangnail that occurs along the sides of the nail.
Here are some awesome tips on how to care for
cuticles:
Dead and dry cuticles can make the nail look ugly
and unhealthy; by using this few techniques can make the nails and the base
healthy.
- Soak in warm water: By soaking your nails in warm water for about 10minutes makes the cuticle soft and are able to push back.
- Dry Cuticles with Care: When your cuticles are dry, do not push them back, you should moisturise to prevent it from painful tears.
- Moisturise well: By moisturising your cuticles everyday makes it hydrated all the time just like the rest of the body. Doing this will prevent it from looking dry and rough, making your finger nails look much healthier.
- Use of Cuticle Oil: The use of cuticle oil regularly will help the cuticle soft enough to push back when you are doing a manicure. Keep your nails healthy, there’s nothing more ugly than having a manicure with a side of infection and rough edges.
- Slightly Push Cuticles Back: Push back gently using cuticle pusher or an orange stick. You can also push them back after showers while your hands are still warm and moist.
- Getting rid of Hangnails: By getting rid of hangnails is part of caring for your cuticles, having said that, you have to be careful because if you cut too deep, you can get hurt and it can also cause infection. If you mistakenly cut yourself, apply antibacterial ointment immediately.
Advice
