Ways to remove blackheads

Blackheads are small black or reddish-brown bumps that can appear on the face; especially nose area, chest or back caused by clogged skin pores when exposed to air. Blackheads can happen to any age but rather common during teenage and adolescent years.

The black projections form a plug blocking the sebaceous glands of the skin. They are caused due to excessive production of oily substance from the sebaceous gland that slowly gets hardened when they mix with dead skin and bacteria. The sebum gets exposed to oxygen from the air and gets oxidised and turns black. Common causes of Blackheads includes Hormonal changes, cosmetics, alcohol, smoking and even stress. Here are some ways to get rid of Blackheads at home. These simple steps will not only treat the blackheads but also cleanse the skin, prevent and get rid of bacteria developing through the pores.

Home remedies to get rid of Blackheads
Follow these simple, natural ways to get rid of blackheads using easily available ingredients at home.

Tomato wash: Tomatoes contains antiseptic properties that dry up blackheads. Take a small tomato, peeled and mashed, then apply it over the blackheads before going to bed. Leave overnight and then wash face with clean water in the morning.


Baking soda: This is another effective way to get rid of blackheads. A mixture of baking soda and water to make a paste then Apply gently to the affected part, allow drying for few minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. 

Lemon juice and Cinnamon powder: Lemon contains antibacterial properties, which can be effective in eliminating blackheads; this will help to treat blackheads and cinnamon is good for circulation, which can help to keep the skin healthy. Prepare a mixture of equal parts of cinnamon and lemon juice and apply to the affected part, possibly apply overnight and rinse with warm water in the morning.

Egg white and honey: Egg white also known as albumen contains pore-tightening properties, which can prevent oily skin that can cause blackheads. Using it as facemask can perform wonders to your skin eliminating blackheads. Mix egg white and honey together then apply as face mask for 30 minutes and wash off with warm water, repeat twice a week.





Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera contains anti inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-healing properties that can reduce skin conditions, soothes the skin, cleanses pores, and controls excess oil production, which can help to get rid of blackheads and other skin conditions.  Extract the gel from aloe Vera leaf and apply to your face for about 10mins and rinse with lukewarm water.


Honey Massage: Honey contains anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiseptic, anti-viral making it suitable for all conditions including both oily skin and blackheads. Apply honey onto the affected area using your hands in a circular motion and wash off with warm water after 15 minutes.
