Did you know that many foods have healing properties?


Dietician advises to base healthy eating on Eatwell plate and suggest that you make your own plate look like it at every meal daily, you can also come up with your Eatwell plate so far it contains all the Eatwell guide eating in right proportions. Eatwell guide apply to everybody except children under the age of two because they have different nutritional needs. Anyone with special dietary requirements or medical needs should seek dietician advice on how to adapt the Eatwell guide to suit their individual needs.
Eatwell guide provides guide to what should be consume in right proportion daily from food group guide chart for healthy balanced diet. Some of us are not eating right or not eating enough of fruits and vegetables daily.  A third of your plate should be covered with fruits and vegetables of different colours. Fruit and vegetables are a good source of vitamins, minerals and fibre needed in the body for proper functioning.
The yellow part guide contains potatoes, bread, rice, pasta or other starchy carbohydrate.  A third of your plate should contain starchy carbohydrate. To get a good source of energy the body needs to function. In a healthy, balanced diet starchy foods are the main source of energy.

The blue part contains some healthy dairy products such as soya drinks and yoghurts remember; choose lower-fat and lower-sugar products. Milk, cheese, yoghurt and fromage frais are good sources of protein, vitamins, and calcium good for strong bones.





The pink part contains some protein such as beans, pulses, fish, eggs and less red meat, fish is a good source of protein, aim to eat at least two portions of fish such as salmon or mackerel every week. Foods in this category are good source of protein, vitamins and minerals.

The purple part contains fats, choose unsaturated oils and spreads and eat in small amount. Unsaturated fats are healthy and it includes vegetables, rapeseed, olive and sunflower oil but should be consume in small quantity.

In all, drinking plenty of fluids  very important, water, low-fat milk and lower sugar or sugar free drinks, tea and coffee, fruit juice and smoothies also part of fluids but should be taken in low quantities. Water should be the best fluid to consume for easy digestion.
